As the world's first World Heritage City, Quito is truly an interesting and exciting place. It attracts tourists from all over the world all year round. Unfortunately, life in Quito is not easy for all residents, as many local women experience domestic violence behind closed doors.
To counteract the worst, our volunteer project offers women, girls and young mothers who can no longer bear to live at home, refuge and protection in a women's shelter in southern Quito. The employees offer the often traumatized women and girls and their small children a safe space, access to medical care, psychological support and education. The aim is that one day they will be able to stand on their own two feet without being dependent on someone else, but be able to look after themselves and their children with self-confidence.
Volunteer work in the women's shelter in Ecuador takes you behind the scenes of the world heritage city and into "real life". This experience of violence in such a beautiful place, but also of hope in an absolute hopelessness will shape you and broaden your horizon.
