Project details
If you have a passion for the sea and you love the feeling of sand on your feet, you enjoy collaborating with others, possess strong problem-solving skills, and excel in providing friendly service, this working holiday opportunity is ideal for you!
Located in the picturesque town of Pichilemu, this hotel is situated in Chile's top surfing destination. It hosts international competitions annually and attracts surfers and tourists from around the globe. Beyond providing a unique experience for surfing aficionados, the hotel is set in a 2.2-hectare park featuring stunning cliffs and lush vegetation characteristic of Chile's Central Valley.
The working holiday program is hosted in a stylish boutique hotel that showcases a minimalist and rustic aesthetic. Guests can choose from 20 elegantly furnished rooms that offer breathtaking sea views. The hotel is positioned right on the beach and features a large organic vegetable garden, beautiful natural scenery, and direct beach access. Additionally, it provides a range of activities for guests, including yoga, Pilates, cooking classes, hot tubs and massages, rock climbing, a small skate park, and more. An on-site restaurant and a beach bar enhance the amenities available to guests.
The hotel accommodates up to six volunteers and interns, who, alongside the permanent hotel staff, create a wonderfully relaxing sports and vacation experience for guests.
Tasks
Your responsibilities in this program position revolve around the well-being of guests. Our volunteers work in the hospitality sector. The tasks include:
- You are the friendly face at the reception desk and accompany guests during the check-in and check-out process.
- You offer information to guests and are available to assist them with any requests they may have.
- Providing service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner: Working in the restaurant involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that guests enjoy a pleasant and fulfilling dining experience.
- You help to coordinate the hotel's "special offerings": scheduling appointments for massages, whirlpools, yoga classes, and similar activities.
- Processing room charges through the hotel's reservation system.
- Assisting with the coordination of corporate events.
- Daily coordination with reservations, reception, housekeeping, and maintenance.
- Maintaining cleanliness and order in the hotel.
The work is conducted on a rotating shift basis: You will work 5 days a week followed by 2 days off. These days off do not necessarily align with the weekend. The early shift operates from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while the late shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The work will be distributed as needed, and hours may vary. You are expected to be flexible and to help out wherever help is needed.
Accommodation
The program placement includes accommodation in the hotel's staff area.
Accommodation is in a shared room. Gender segregation will be implemented whenever feasible, depending on occupancy.
Additionally, full board is included: lunch and dinner will be provided, while breakfast is to be prepared by each participant; the hotel supplies the required groceries.
Wi-Fi is available on-site, and you are welcome to use it outside of working hours.
Location
Pichilemu is positioned along the Pacific coast, approximately a three-hour drive southwest of the capital city, Santiago. During the summer months in Chile, the population of 14,000 swells significantly; however, if you seek tranquility, Punta de Lobos is nearby yet removed from the busy atmosphere. The influx of tourists is complemented by local handicrafts, a vibrant nightlife, and a diverse array of culinary options, all while the town maintains its charming village ambiance and scenic surroundings.
The hotel is situated at "Punta de Lobos," the epicenter of surfing, located 6 km south of the quaint town of Pichilemu, where the finest surfers tackle the waves.
Pichilemu is recognized as the premier surfing destination in Chile. Surfers from across the globe gather here, particularly from October to April, to engage in their favorite sport, coinciding with winter in the northern hemisphere. This location also hosts international professional surfing competitions.
In your leisure time, you may enroll in a surf school to experience the waves firsthand. The village also provides bike rentals and numerous other recreational opportunities. Besides surfers, many Chilean families visit to enjoy their vacations and the beach lifestyle. The nearby region features hiking trails through lush forests, and the Colchagua wine valley is just a short distance away. Here, you can immerse yourself in traditional rural life, take part in wine tours or horseback riding adventures, and explore a historical museum.
