Our Spanish courses in Cartagena de Indias take place in the historic district "Getsemani", just a few minutes walking to the old town's highlight Puerta del Reloj. The school is housed in a beautiful old colonial house where you can feel the history and culture of Cartagena.
In the Spanish courses you can immerse deeply into Latin American culture and learn about the countless natural and cultural treasures Colombia and especially the Caribbean region have to offer. Our teachers have experience and are well trained in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
The school has seven classrooms, an internet room and a large dancing room, where dancing classes are held. The cozy video room is also used to practice the students' listening skills.
The language school regularly offers leisure activities (e.g. city tours, cooking classes, dancing classes, excursions, sports, grammar workshops, conversation exercises, etc.). Some activities and excursions require an additional payment on site.
WIFI is available in the school and can be used free of charge by the students.
Cartagena de Indiashas 1.2 million inhabitants, is the capital of the Bolivar province and is also considered the "pearl" of the Colombian Caribbean coast. Cartagena has a tropical, hot and humid climate all year round with an average annual temperature of 27 ° C.
The city is beautiful and has a lot to offer: Dream white sandy beaches; a turquoise, warm sea; beautiful coral islands off the coast and lots of well-preserved historical and architectural treasures, such as the cathedral and numerous palaces in the Andalusian style. No wonder Cartagena is the most visited city in Colombia!
The walled historical city center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. The Cartagena city wall was originally built to protect the city from pirate attacks. The San Jose and San Sebastian fortresses, as well as the castles of San Felipe de Barajas and San Fernando, and the historic market building Las Bovedas are still very well preserved today.
The main sources of income include fishing, tourism, cargo shipping and the oil industry. The national "Miss Colombia" beauty contest is held here every year.
This charming city in the Caribbean has lost none of its charm for almost 500 years, and now has a romantic flair and, of course, also offers the legendary Caribbean nightlife. An attraction for tourists as well as local party people is "rumba en chiva", a tour in a party bus. Most discos are located on Calle Arsenal, in the "Getsemani" district. Smaller clubs and restaurants can also be found in the historic city center.
The inhabitants of Cartagena are largely of African descent, which is also reflected in the music. For example, the Afro-Caribbean genre Champeta was created in Cartagena. Thanks to the cheerful nature of the people of Cartagena, you will definitely feel well during your stay.
The school puts an emphasis on communication exercises. In addition, reading and listening comprehension as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation are trained.
On the first day of school there will be a placement test to determine your language skills. This is used to classify the appropriate language level. There are 6 levels of difficulty (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Languages).
Native Spanish speakers
At the end of the course, a certificate will be issued to confirm your language level.
