Location
Pichilemu is recognized as the premier surfing destination in Chile. Surfers from across the globe flock here during the Chilean summer to escape the winter chill of the northern hemisphere and immerse themselves in the waves. Additionally, there are frequently international competitions held at a professional level.
Most accommodations, including hotels, hostels, campsites, and surf schools, are situated along the beaches of Pichilemu itself, while Punta de Lobos, renowned for its professional and highly skilled surfers, is located approximately 6 kilometers to the south.
The vibrant town of Pichilemu is located about 200 kilometers or a 3-hour drive southwest of the capital, Santiago, directly along the Pacific coast.
Approximately 14,000 residents call this place home, but this figure swells significantly during the summer months. The influx of tourists naturally enhances the local handicrafts, nightlife, and offers a diverse range of gastronomy to suit every budget.
Pichilemu is not only a haven for surfers; many families also choose to spend their summer vacations here to enjoy the beach and observe the surfers. Surrounding the area are picturesque forests with hiking trails, and just over an hour's drive to the east leads you to the heart of the Colchagua Valley, Chile's premier wine-producing region.
