Working Holiday, Tourism
Placements throughout the country
flexible start and end dates, year-round
The program places are all in the tourism industry. Program sites include small travel agencies who offer day trips or excursions as well as agencies for outdoor sports such as rafting, horseback riding, canopy, kayaking, jeep adventure, volcano climbing, trekking, skiing, mountaineering, etc. The tasks are as varied as our partners, so please tell us about your interests in advance.
The program locations are distributed throughout the country, from the extreme north to the deepest Patagonia, in very attractive and well-developed areas with good touristic infrastructure, such as San Pedro de Atacama, La Serena/Valle del Elqui, Pucón and Puerto Varas, the island of Chiloé and Patagonia.
Please note: There are no program places at tour operators in Santiago de Chile, Valparaíso or Viña del Mar. If you prefer to work in one of these cities, please have a look at our information about Working Holiday in a Hostel.
Detailed information regarding your program placement will be sent to you after the placement process has been completed. So, before your adventure starts, you will know exactly where you will work and live.
Local agencies and tour operators are the icing on the cake of every tourist destination. They take visitors to the most beautiful places; they enable even the most daring adventures and they have the equipment for every kind of sport and fun. Last but not least, they know their region like the back of their hand and every employee has a lot of insider knowledge.

Chile is one of the most diverse travel destinations in the world. You can find most of the world's climate zones and landscapes in just this one country - there is something for every taste! Chile offers an amazing range from desert to ice, from beach to pampas, from pristine rain forest to high mountains that extends over 4,300 kilometers north-south (without Antarctica) between the Andes and the Pacific – including volcanoes, geysers and hot springs.
Many travelers, especially the younger ones, have to save money for a good while in order to make their dream of a journey through the magical landscapes of Chile come true. So, doing a Working Holiday at a Chilean tourism operator is a really good idea: You save a fair bit of your travel budget, and live right on the spot. Our Work & Travel partners are located in the most beautiful places in Chile, above all in the stunning Araucanía Region, the idyllic Lakes Region and wild Patagonia.
The Araucanía awaits you with hot springs, volcanoes, lakes, wild waterfalls and a hundred options for adventure sports. You can also get to know up close the culture of the Mapuche, the local indigenous people. In the Lakes Region further south, you will also find wonderful lakes and volcanoes, as well as untouched virgin forests, as far as the eye can see - a paradise for kayaking, trekking, biking, hiking or horse-riding tours and much more.
You can also walk in the footsteps of the German immigrants there. They settled the area around 1850 and their heritage can still be found everywhere. Patagonia is the epitome of adventure! Follow in the traces of the Baqueanos, the Chilean cow-boys, who are making a living from this absolutely wild area, observe the flight of the condors in the sky, feel the wind in your face and the smell of icebergs in the air.
There are also a few options for Working Holiday in Northern Chile. The north offers starry nights like almost nowhere else, the driest desert on earth with magical, bizarre landscapes and archaeological treasures, as well as beautiful beaches - sunshine guaranteed.
You live and work where stressed Santiaguinos go on vacation and people from all over the world marvel at Chile’s natural wonders. You get all the important connections to know the best travel tips for your own adventures, learn a lot and go easy on your travel budget.
Please note that there are no program places at tour operators in Santiago de Chile, Valparaíso or Viña del Mar. If you prefer to work in one of these cities, please have a look at our information about Working Holiday in a Hostel.
Spanish at communication level. For optimal preparation for your Working Holiday in Chile, we advise you to take a Spanish course before the program starts. This gives you the opportunity to slowly get used to the language, culture and mentality and to meet like-minded people in a relaxes atmosphere.
