Program details
We organize internships in almost all departments and industries in Ecuador. Internship companies include all types of companies, large and small firms, institutions, associations and non-profit organizations. We mainly work with Ecuadorian companies, but also place our interns in internationally known companies.
Internships in Ecuador are usually unpaid. They should therefore not be seen as an opportunity to earn money, but rather as a unique opportunity to gain international work experience in an economically emerging country in South America. The value of this personal experience and professional development may be extremely valuable in the long term and for your career.
In exceptional cases or in the case of particularly good performance, some companies are willing to grant a small payment for the daily transport costs or for meals. In no case can we guarantee this.
You decide on the start date and the period and we will organize your internship in Ecuador. You can set the dates freely according to your personal schedule. The internship abroad in Ecuador can be booked and started all year round. However, please consider a minimum duration of 4 weeks to ensure adequate training. This also gives you enough time to become familiar with the host country, the people and the language.
We do not work with an internship database and standard internship positions like many agencies for stays abroad. Rather, we organize your internship in Quito individually according to your needs. You tell us what is important to you and which areas you are interested in and we take care of the rest.
Tasks
The tasks you will perform during your internship abroad in Quito depend on the internship area and your application profile. After successful placement, you will receive the internship offer from us with further information on your internship position and tasks.
Accommodation
We want you to feel comfortable during your internship in Ecuador. For your accommodation you can choose between a single room in a carefully selected homestay or in a guest house.
Homestay:
With a homestay you live in a room in a local household and can experience the way of life, customs and the food up close. Half board and a weekly laundry service are included. Most hosts have internet access. You get a single room and have access to the rest of the apartment or house. You may have to share the bathroom with hosts or other guests.
Guest house:
In the guest house you will mainly get in contact with other interns, volunteers or language students. You will for sure quickly find new friends for weekend activities. You get a single room and have access to the dining room and kitchen, where you can store your groceries and prepare meals yourself. Shared bathrooms and a beautiful terrace are also available.
The guest house is equipped with WIFI.
Location
Quito is the capital of Ecuador and is only about 20 kilometers south of the equator, that’s where the name of the country comes from. Quito is located at 2,850 meters above sea level in the Andean highlands, making it the second highest capital in the world after La Paz (Bolivian seat of government). The position between different Andean peaks provides an impressive mountain panorama, especially from the teleferico that leads up the Pichincha mountain up to 4,100 meters. From there, you have a breathtaking view of the whole city and the surrounding mountains.
Quito is home to almost 3 million people and has heaps of valuable cultural heritages. Built on the ruins of an Inca city, buildings and monuments like monasteries and churches from the colonial era predominate Quito. The old town of Quito has the best preserved and least changed historical center of Latin America and was therefore declared the first city ever to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978.
Quito and the surrounding area represent Ecuador´s diversity: Impressive mountain backdrops, perfectly shaped volcanoes, lively parks, ancient monuments, historic buildings and last but not least, a lot of people who have remained true to their old traditions and typical costumes. But Quito also has the face of a modern city with trendy bars and clubs, first-class restaurants and a lively student life.
Quito is an ideal place to learn Spanish and get to know the indigenous cultures of Ecuador.

Spanish at communication level is required. For optimal preparation for your internship in Ecuador, we advise you to take a Spanish course in Quito before the program starts. This gives you the opportunity to slowly get used to the national language, culture and mentality.
