The volunteer projects we offer in Brazil are
based on social commitment and dedication at different kinds of institutions.
You will have the excellent opportunity to get to know the country and
its culture and can meanwhile apply and improve your Portuguese language
skills. You will also show solidarity with people who completely rely
on the help of others and your support will be highly appreciated. You
will make a small but very important contribution to the international
understanding.
We cooperate with social organizations, institutions
and foundations in Salvador da Bahia. The following
working areas can be offered: work with children brought up in institutions,
work with street children, human rights, women’s rights, ecological
and environmental projects, projects with native animals, development
assistance, work with elderly people in need, etc.

DURATION OF THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IN BRAZIL
You decide about the duration of your volunteer program
in Brazil. Please keep in mind the required minimum stay of eight weeks.

WORKING HOURS AND REMUNERATION OF THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The working hours during your volunteer program depend
on the institution. All volunteer work projects are full-time positions.
The decision, whether to pay a remuneration or not, is completely up to
the institution. However, and due to economic and social reasons in Brazil,
it is normally not possible to remunerate your work. The institutions
mainly depend on donations themselves to be able to exist and to operate.

LANGUAGE COURSE IN BRAZIL
In combination with the volunteer work project in
Brazil we offer preparing language courses. At least a two-week Portuguese
course in Salvador da Bahia is required to participate in our volunteer
program. The course will help you to become familiar with the language
and to fulfill the linguistic expectations during your volunteer work
project.

ACCOMMODATION IN BRAZIL
During your language course you can choose between
a Brazilian host family and the guest house in Salvador da Bahia. Both
options include breakfast. Half board in host families can be booked on
request.
During your volunteer work project you will be staying
at the volunteer lodge. This is the house of a host family where you will
share your room with one (or two) of the family’s children. No meals
are offered.
Normally, the language school and the volunteer institution
are easily reached by bus or even by foot. Shopping facilities, restaurants,
bars, dancing schools, internet cafés and fitness centers are usually
also close-by.
