Learning Spanish in Pucón!
|
The city of Pucón is located approximately 780 km south of the
capital, Santiago de Chile, very close to the famous
volcano Villarrica.
Pucón has approximately 14.000 inhabitants and is highly developed
in the tourism sector. The city is an absolute paradise
for nature and outdoor lovers, offering a range of
opportunities from skiing in the winter, to rafting,
hiking and biking in the summer. The many
rivers in the area also provide excellent locations
for fishing. In the high season Pucón
is a favorite destination of international tourists
which is reflected in the excellent nightlife on
offer. Besides endless bars, nightclubs and pubs
you might also be lucky in the local casino – a
great opportunity to raise your traveling budget!
SPANISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL
Our partner school is located right in the middle of the beautiful Chilean Lake District and has a very familiar and personal atmosphere. Due to many years of experience the school has developed excellent teaching methods and all the teachers are native speakers. The Spanish language courses on offer are of high quality and within just a short period of time you will realize that your language skills have greatly improved!

SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSES
Since we want you to learn Spanish in the most effective
way possible, the courses on offer are one-on-one (one student per class)
and one-on-two (two students per class). Classes are from Monday to Saturday,
but you will only have school five days a week. On your day off you can
explore Pucón’s beautiful surroundings. You can start your
course any day of the week. One class lasts 60 minutes
and you will attend two or three classes per day.
The language school also provides you with additional material like Spanish
magazines or study reviews to give you the opportunity to do some studying
on your own.
Courses are divided into two different levels of language: the beginner level, which is mainly focused on basic communication and grammar in daily life situations, and the advanced level, which mainly deals with problems and texts of the Mapuche culture (the indigenous people of this region) and also includes a visit to the Mapuche cultural center Kurarewe.

ACCOMMODATION
In Pucón you will be staying with one of the carefully chosen host
families, giving you the excellent opportunity to get to know more about
this wonderful country, discovering both Chilean traditions and typical
Chilean food. You will also be able to practice the Spanish language skills
you have acquired each day at school. The accommodation includes full
board.

OTHER SERVICES
There are a variety of different options for how
to get from Santiago to Pucón. You could take an airplane to Temuco,
which is the closest airport to Pucón. This is the fastest way
to get to Pucón (flight time about one hour). From the airport
in Temuco you have the opportunity to take either
a transfer or a taxi to the bus terminal from where
you can take a direct bus to Pucón.
This journey lasts approximately two hours, depending
on the bus category you choose.
Another option is to take a bus from Santiago to
Pucón, a journey
which lasts around ten hours. Prices vary depending
on the bus category you choose.
Note: During high season from December to March there are also
flights from Santiago to Pucón.
When you arrive at the bus terminal in Pucón you will be picked
up by the language school or by your host family. Please contact us for
travel arrangements. We will be more than happy to assist you with the
organization of your trip to Pucón.
