School
The Spanish school in Arequipa was founded in 1996 and has a lot of experience in teaching Spanish to foreigners. It is perfectly located close to the city center in a nice and calm neighborhood. The school is situated in a nice old building and has all the facilities to make you feel comfortable. In addition to learning the language, you will also have the chance to learn about Peruvian culture and literature while specializing in either Spanish grammar or conversation. One of the school’s priorities is making you feel welcome in Arequipa. Teaching methods are frequently reviewed and updated so you will go back home with the knowledge of Spanish you wanted to achieve during your stay!
TThe Spanish school in Arequipa divides their courses into three levels. The beginner students will learn the basic structures of Spanish, through daily dialogs and simple texts about Peruvian culture. Twenty hours of an intensive Spanish course will allow students to express their basic needs. Intermediate students will learn Spanish using specialized grammar books designed for foreign students and through texts by Latin-American or Spanish writers. Advanced learners will have the opportunity to practice Spanish grammar by reviewing their own texts. They also will improve their understanding of the language by analyzing selected literature about Peruvian culture and Spanish-American topics.
Course
The courses are customized to suit the ability and needs of each student. Before starting your Spanish classes you will have a short conversation with one of the teachers to find out what kind of Spanish knowledge you already have and which topics you would like to focus on during your classes. The study plan is flexible and takes into account the needs and personal time schedules of the students. You may take classes for one week (at least two classes per day) then take a week off for travelling or other cultural activities, and resume your studies afterwards. Besides the regular classes, you can participate in special courses such as Peruvian history, Peruvian literature, commercial correspondence and Quechua. Quechua is the original language of the Inca Indians and is still spoken in various countries of South America, especially Peru.
Spanish courses can be started on any day of the week. Classes take place from Monday to Friday and one academic class lasts 60 minutes.
Private course: The private course consists of 20 hours per week and will be set up according to your preferences and needs. You will arrange the main focus of the course through a consultation with you teacher before the course begins.
Special course: If you only want to take special courses, you have to take at least two classes per day, but you are able to set the number of days you want to take classes each week. You may also combine the special courses with the traditional Spanish classes when taking at least ten regular classes per week.
Group course: The group course consists in 20 lessons per week and is only available if a group of people with the same Spanish level and timely availability can be formed with at least 3 persons. The maximum number of students per group is 4. Please check availability of group courses with us.

Location
Arequipa is one of the nicest cities in Peru with excellent weather conditions, surrounded by spectacular mountains. With a population of almost 1 million inhabitants, it is the second most populated city in Peru. Arequipa lies in the Andes Mountains at an altitude of 7,800 feet above sea level. From many places of the city you can enjoy the amazing view of the snow-capped volcano El Misti.
The city was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO because of its colonial architecture. Arequipa, also known as the “White City” most likely got its name because of the white sillar rock (a pearly white volcanic stone) which most of the city’s historical buildings are made of.
Arequipa is one of the most visited cities in Peru and offers a wide range of attractions including its culture and excursions to the surrounding nature. An excursion to the Cañón del Colca, considered to be the deepest canyon in the world, is definitely worthwhile as is a visit to the monastery Santa Catalina which was opened to the public as recently as 1970. The people of Arequipa are considered to be very friendly and hospitable and are very open minded to foreign visitors.

Country information Peru |
Peru sits in the vicinity of many countries. To the north is Ecuador and Colombia, Brazil to the east, Bolivia to the southeast, Chile to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The Andes mountain range runs parallel to the Pacific Ocean, dividing the country into three geographic regions of coastline, Andes highlands and Amazonian jungle. About 60% of the countries territory is rainforest area, which qualifies Peru as the fourth country of great tropical forest expansion after Brazil, Congo and Indonesia.
Peru contains over 20,000 years of cultural reflection. Throughout the country exists historical evidence and traditional ways of life that are still alive today. Visitors often report their amazement of the abundant remains of former cultures, mystic tribes and Inca Empire deposits. A place like Chavín, a former pilgrim center, is where the culture of the Paracas and Pucarás and the gigantic Nazca lines are still all part of the rich culture. Last but not least, Peru is home to both the World Heritage city of Cusco, as well as the world famous Machu Picchu (one of the Seven Wonders of the World). Peru invites travelers to enjoy the country outside of the world of history as well with wonderful beaches, impervious jungles, fascinating Peruvian culture, and traditional Peruvian food and drink. The three climatic zones of Peru entail three ideal times to visit this country. The average daily temperature of the Andes region is around 50°F with freezing nightly temperatures. Early June through August is the dry season of the mountainous region. Still, during the rainiest months of December through March the rainfall is minimal. The hot months of the highlands are December through March with extreme dry air; this coastal strip sees little rain year round. In the tropical regions, April through November entails humid weather and many picture perfect foggy mornings. The all-around peak season of travel to Peru is between June and August with drier weather and warm beach days! Lastly, the elevation of Peru makes all of these norms unpredictable as you explore higher into the Andes. The Peruvians in general, are rather reserved and timid, but once you take steps to ¨break the ice,¨ you will discover that they are very warm and friendly people.
