And, most importantly, the beach is just a few blocks away! The school is run by Mexicans with longstanding experience in managing language schools. All Spanish teachers have a degree in Spanish language and have been teaching for more than three years. Groups are small and classes are personalized to guarantee an appropriate student - teacher relationship. The Spanish school is small and offers a very familiar environment to the students. School’s facilities include a computer with free internet access, a student’s study center and free coffee and snacks during breaks.
Course
The Spanish school in Playa del Carmen offers various types of language courses. The courses vary according to the student’s requirements, but range from basic 4 hour courses every day to customized groups for Universities and students interested in learning special topics. All language courses start every Monday. Classes normally begin at 10am in the morning with students showing up on the first day at 9:45 am to take a placement test in order to identify their Spanish level and assign them to the right group. The Spanish courses in Mexico are divided into 6 levels: Beginners (A and B), Intermediate (1 and 2), and Advanced (1 and 2). After completing each level, students will receive a diploma indicating the completed Spanish level.
The teaching method emphasizes both grammar and conversation. However, they try to focus more on conversation catering to what most foreign students want in order to be able to get around easily and chat with Mexicans in the afternoon, at the beach, or when going out at night. Interactive material is used for an easy language approach and activities during conversation lessons help students practice their communication skills. Usually, after 3 to 4 weeks, students take a Spanish test to pass on to the next level.
One Spanish lesson lasts 60 minutes and the courses are divided from the standard group course to the super intensive course.
Standard Group course: The group course consists of 4 hours of Spanish per day. A maximum of 8 students are gathered in one class to ensure easy and fast learning. One level of group course finishes after two weeks of class. At the end of each course students take an evaluation test to pass on to the next level.
Intensive course: Intensive course consists of the standard group courses in the morning and two extra lessons in the afternoon. Each group counts a maximum of 8 students. The intensive course allows you to complete each Spanish level faster.
Super Intensive course: The super intensive course consists in the standard group course during the morning and two additional private lessons in the afternoon. This course is only available for beginners or intermediate Spanish speakers. The individual lessons are specifically designed for your specific needs.
