PARAGUAY
Learning Spanish in the country of Exotic Plants and Animals!

Learn Spanish in the heart of South America, in the land of the Gauchos!

Apart from Bolivia, Paraguay is the only South American country which does not have direct access to the sea. Paraguay still has many virgin forests and is therefore the ideal place for safari adventures, not least because up to now it has received very few tourists. You will be amazed by how many different kinds of plants and animals you can find here. Come and discover the beautiful waterfalls, incredible landscapes and become a part of the Indian culture that is still very much alive there. Some 90% of the Paraguayans are mestizos and Guaraní, the language of the indigenous people, is the second official language of the country after Spanish. Nearly all Paraguayans can speak both languages. Paraguay has just 6,5 million inhabitants and is therefore one of the smaller countries on the South American continent.

ASUNCIÓN

Asunción (full name: Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Asunción) is the capital of Paraguay and with only about 500.000 people living in the actual city and about 1,8 million people living in the surrounding conurbation, it is one of the smallest capitals in South America. The city on the shores of Rio Paraguay is home to many fabulous places such as the Manzana de la Rivera - Casa Viola, an ancient colonial building whose foundations were laid back in 1750. Culture aside, the country’s capital also offers excellent shopping opportunities with the biggest mall being called Shopping del Sol. Asunción lays claim to an excellent nightlife and in the downtown part of the capital and the neighborhoods of Manora and Las Camelitas there are endless nightclubs and amazing bars. The Mercado 4 is a popular market with small labyrinthine streets where you can buy vegetables and much more.
