1. What are the current visa regulations for Peru?
Citizens of most European, North, Central and South American countries, Australia and New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Peru. On your arrival in the country you will receive a tourist card which generally allows you to stay for up to 90 days in Peru. However, sometimes the tourist card might only be issued for 30 days. It can be extended though once you are in the country.

2. How long does my passport have to be valid when entering Peru?
When entering Peru your passport needs to be valid for at least six more months.
3. What about the airport tax when leaving Peru?
If you want to enjoy your last evening and spend all your money in Peru, please bear in mind that you have to pay an additional airport tax when leaving the country, which can only be paid cash. Currently, the airport tax is US$ 30,25 for international flights.
4. Which currency is used in Peru? What is the current exchange rate?
The currency of Peru is the Nuevo Sol (PEN). The banknotes come in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Nuevo Soles. There are coins of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 Centavos and 1, 2 and 5 Nuevo Soles.

5. Where can I exchange money in Peru? Is it possible to withdraw money or pay by credit card?
Nuevo Soles can be obtained in any exchange office in Peru. In the bigger Peruvian cities US-Dollars as well as Euros are accepted for exchange. You can withdraw money from any ATM using your bank or credit card. Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Peru.

7. When is the best time for visiting Peru?
Throughout the entire year the country of Peru is a very popular travel destination. The climate in the Amazonas region is very hot and humid whereas in the mountains it is significantly colder. Depending on the season there might even be rain or snow. Due to the cold ocean currents, the climate along the coast is relatively dry. Even though there might be lots of clouds it does not rain very much. The so called El Niño phenomenon, the sudden change from cold to warm currents in the ocean, can sometimes cause flooding.
