1. What are the current visa regulations for Mexico?
Citizens of most European, North, Central and South American countries, Australia and New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Mexico. On your arrival in the country you will receive a tourist card which normally allows you to stay for up to 90 days in Mexico, however, sometimes tourist cards may only be issued for 30 days. They can be extended for another 90 days once you are in the country.

2. How long does my passport have to be valid when entering Mexico?
When entering Mexico your passport needs to be valid for at least six more months.

3. Which currency is used in Mexico? What is the current exchange rate?
The currency of Mexico is the Mexican Peso (MXN). The banknotes come in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1.000 Pesos. There are coins of 10, 20, 50 Centavos and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Pesos.

4. Where can I exchange money in Mexico? Is it possible to withdraw money or pay by credit card?
If you want to exchange US-Dollars or Euros in Mexico, please go to one of the many exchange offices or banks which exist in all bigger Mexican cities. You can withdraw cash from any ATM using your bank or credit card. Furthermore, you can also pay by credit card in most of the big shops and restaurants throughout the country.

6. When is the best time for visiting Mexico?
Mexico is situated in the transition zone between the humid tropics of the southeast of the country and the dry subtropics of the north. Due to the great differences in altitude Mexico offers a huge variety of vegetation. The Tierra Caliente is the hot zone reaching from sea level up to 700 m above sea level (average annual temperature above 25º C), whereas the Tierra Fría is the cold zone, stretching from around 700m above sea level to the tree line at around 4.000m above sea level (12-18º C).
