Paid internships are an exception and are rarely available. However, some companies provide food vouchers, free meals at lunch time or a travelling allowance. Only a few of our partner companies offer a small salary for outstanding performance.
Generally, we need between 4 and 8 weeks to set up an internship that matches your needs. Sometimes internships can be arranged in less time. Please send us the application form and your resume about 3 to 6 months prior to starting the internship. This allows us to organize your stay accordingly and gives you enough time to arrange requirements like flight, insurance and visa if needed. However, if you wish to travel as soon as possible, we are able to place you in a project with shorter notice as well.
Usually, our internships are full-time positions. The company where you will be working defines the working hours according to work load and your capabilities. You will never be asked to work more than 45 hours per week! Once you book your internship you will be provided with the exact information about the work schedule and days off. Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for the tasks that you are assigned to. But not everything is about work! We are sure you will find plenty of time to get to know the city you live in, meet other people, have fun, and enjoy your stay abroad.
Yes, after successfully finishing your internship you will get a certificate from the respective company and a certificate of participation from us.
Yes, in each country we provide an in-country support and a 24-hour emergency telephone number which we will pass on to you together with your orientation kit.
Successful internship placements in Latin America require some to good knowledge of Spanish. This assures that both you and the company benefit from your internship. We strongly recommend participating in one of our Spanish courses prior to starting the internship program. This will help you to get the most out of your work experience! The minimum stay for an internship in a Latin American country depends on each country and company. Generally, the minimum stay is about 2 months (sometimes longer) but, longer stays are encouraged. Many companies are quite flexible and often can adjust to your timetable. However, the minimum time is very important to get used to the host country and to become familiar with your work. Your stay can be extended anytime. The more time you allow for your stay, the better you will play a part in the activities of the program and the more intense your experience abroad will be.

In every Latin American country you can exchange hard currencies like the US-Dollar, the EURO or Swiss Franc at official money exchange offices or local banks. Be aware of the exchange rate you are charged and compare the rates between the exchange offices to find out which one is the most suitable for you. Additionally, you can withdraw cash in local currency or sometimes in US-Dollar in all bigger cities at any ATM with your personal bank card or credit card. These cards are also widely accepted in shops, restaurants or other facilities.

We ask all participants to have a full health insurance with coverage in the country you are going to visit. If you keep in mind basic rules of hygiene and precautions like not eating unwashed fruits or food you do not know where it came from, etc., there is no reason to worry. If you happen to get sick, there is medical assistance in each country and through your health insurance you will have full coverage in the event that you are hospitalized or need to visit a doctor.
In order to participate in one of our programs you have to be at least 18 years old. You will also be required to have a valid health and liability insurance for the country you go to. We ask you to supply your membership information when you book a program. You need to have a valid passport and comply with immigration regulations of your destination country.
Travel necessities are based on personal preference so we do not have a universal pack-list. But don't worry! Our program related orientation kit will provide you with a short list of stuff you should remember when doing your packing. The orientation kit will be sent to you after your booking is processed.
Our staff will be very happy to arrange for you the local transportation to your accommodation. Additionally, the in-country staff is always available for further advice once you have arrived to your destination country. In order to make the necessary arrangements, you should inform us in advance about your travel itinerary.

TOP Language Courses in Latin AmericaBefore your arrival at the language school we will send you detailed information by means of our orientation kit. You will get the school's address, a description how to get there and emergency phone numbers. You might get lucky and have your host family or housemates show you the way to the school or take you there the first day.
Before starting a group course you will do a placement test in order to assess your language skills. After defining your Spanish / Portuguese language knowledge you will be assigned to the group that best suits you.

Yes, of course! You will be amazed by the huge variety of activities offered by all our language schools in Latin America! In all Central and South American countries you will have the chance to make international phone calls from local call centers. You can also buy an international calling card. Keep in mind that it is very convenient to make international phone calls via Internet. In almost any cyber café you will have the opportunity to use programs like Skype or MSN.
In order for us to have enough time to organize your stay, we kindly ask you to book your program at least 3 weeks prior to your arrival at the language school. In some cases, however, we are flexible enough to arrange your stay with shorter notice. If you are spontaneous, excited about learning a new language, and cannot wait to come to South America, please contact us and we will do everything we can to arrange your program as quickly as possible!
Each language school offers an airport pick-up service that brings you directly and safely to your accommodation. This service has to be booked separately. Please remember to send us your detailed flight information (arrival date and time, flight number, etc.) in advance to make sure you will get picked up on time.
