Paid internships are an exception and are rarely available. Some companies, however, provide food vouchers, free meals at lunch time or travelling allowance. Only a few of our partner companies offer a little salary for outstanding performance.

Yes. The participation fee varies according to each country and depends on the length of your stay. We guarantee a high standard of service and assistance through our office staff and the in-country support staff.
The internship fee does not include air fare, airport taxes, local travels and expenses for insurance or visa. It does not cover personal expenses (e.g. shopping, bars, telephone, restaurants, snacks, gifts, etc) either.
We ask all participants to have a full health insurance with coverage in the country you are going to visit. If you keep in mind basic rules of hygiene and precaution (like not eating unwashed fruits, food you do not know where it comes from, etc.) there is no reason to worry. If you happen to get sick, there is medical assistance in each country and through your health insurance you will have full coverage in case you need to spend some time in a hospital or visit a doctor.
In every Latin American country you can exchange hard currencies like the US-Dollar, the EURO or Swiss Franc at official money exchange offices or local banks. Be aware of the exchange rate you will be charged with and if you have the possibility compare the rates between the exchange offices to find out which one is the most suitable for you. If you bring Traveler's checks we recommend these being issued in US-Dollar. Additionally, you can withdraw cash in local currency or sometimes in US-Dollar in all bigger cities at ATM with your personal bank card or credit card. These cards are also widely accepted in shops, restaurants or other facilities.

In order to participate in one of our programs you have to be at least 18 years old. You will also be required to have a valid health and liability insurance for the country you go to. We ask you to supply your membership information when you book a program. You need to have a valid passport and comply with immigration regulation of your destination country.
Successful internship placements in Latin America require at least medium Spanish skills. This assures that both you and the company benefit from your internship. We strongly recommend participating in one of our Spanish courses prior to starting the internship program. This will help you to get the most out of your work experience! The minimum stay for an internship in a Latin American country may vary and depends on each country and company. Basically, the minimum stay is about 2 months (sometimes longer). Generally, longer stays are encouraged. Many companies are quite flexible and often can adjust to your timetable. However, the minimum time is very important to get used to the host country and to become familiar with your work. Your stay can be extended anytime. The more time you allow for your stay, the better you will play part in the activities of the project and the more intensive will be your experience abroad.
Travel equipment is quite a personal thing. We do not have a universal pack-list. But don't worry, our program related orientation kit will provide you with a short list of stuff you should remember when doing your packing. The orientation kit will be send to you after booking is processed.
Yes, after successfully finishing your internship you will get a certificate of the respective company and a certificate of participation from us.
Generally we need between 4 and 8 weeks to set up an internship that matches your needs. Sometimes internships can be arranged in less time. Please send us the application form and your resume about 3 to 6 months prior to starting the internship. This allows us to organize your stay accordingly and gives you enough time to arrange requirements like flight, insurance and visa if needed. However, if you wish to travel as soon as possible we are able to place you in a project with shorter notice as well.
Usually, our internships are full-time positions. The company where you will be working defines the working hours according to work load and your capabilities. You will never be asked to work more than 45 hours per week! Once you book your internship you will be provided with the exact information about the work schedule and days off. Please be fair and keep in mind that you will be responsible for the tasks that you are assigned to. But not all is about work! We are sure you will find plenty of time to get to know the city you live in, meet up with people having fun and just enjoying your stay abroad.
Our staff will be very happy to arrange the local transportation to your accommodation for you. Additionally, the in-country staff is always available for further advice once you have arrived in the target country. In order to use this service, you should inform us in advance about your travel itinerary in order to induce the necessary arrangements.

To have enough time to organize your upcoming stay we kindly ask you to book your program at least 3 weeks prior to your arrival at the language school. In some cases, however, we are flexible enough to arrange your stay with shorter notice. If you are absolutely excited about learning a new language and cannot wait to come to South America, please contact us and we will do everything to arrange your program as quickly as possible!
Before your arrival at the language school we will send you detailed information by means of our orientation kit. You will get the school's address, a description how to get there and emergency phone numbers. Maybe you are even lucky and your host family or housemates will show you the way to the school or take you there the first day.
In all Central and South American countries you will have the chance to make international phone calls from local call centers. You can also buy an international calling card. Keep in mind that it is very convenient to make international phone calls via Internet. In almost any cyber café you will have the opportunity to use programs like Skype or MSN.
Usually our Spanish and Portuguese language courses can be started at any time of the year, always on Mondays. In some cities you will even have the opportunity to start your language course on any day of the week. Before starting a group course you will do a placement test in order to identify your language skills. After defining your Spanish / Portuguese language level you will be assigned to the group that best suits.
