Travel Health Insurance

Travel Health Insurance for Peru mandatory!

The streets of Peru are crowded with stray dogs and cats, most of which were previously abandoned by their former owners. This is mostly because the pet owners had no money to provide for the animals, lost interest in the animals, or couldn’t take them to the vet when infections or health problems arose.

To help alleviate this problem, there is a non-profit pet hospital in Cusco. They offer treatments at reduced prices so that even low-income families can have their animals treated. One of their main goals is to ensure that fewer animals end up on the streets.

If you decide to volunteer for the pet center, you will have the chance to shadow the vets and even assist with treatments. Since the pet hospital depends on private funding, volunteers play an active role in assuring that the center can continue its magnificent work.

Your tasks in the pet center will include assisting with the medical treatments and care of the animals that must stay for observation. This includes feeding the animals, as well as cleaning their cages. If you have experience with marketing and social media, you can also apply your knowledge by helping the team implement measures that attract more attention and donors to ensure the survival of the pet center.

A comfortable accommodation with a carefully selected host family is an important aspect for your stay abroad in Peru. The experience of living with a local family will give you the chance to not only improve your Spanish language skills, but also gain authentic insights into Peruvian culture and society. Share your experience with your "Peruvian family" and discover true cultural immersion. In addition to its natural beauty, Peru is also known for its delicious cuisine! Your family will cater you with two meals per day (half-board) and you will learn a lot about Peruvian delicacies and typical dishes. If you need some privacy, you can relax in your single room, which is provided by the family. The bathroom is shared with other family members.

Alternatively, if volunteers wish to live with other volunteers or Spanish students, we have single rooms available in a student residence. This accommodation offers a single bedroom with a shared bathroom. No meals are provided with this option, however there is a common kitchen area where meals can be prepared.
