With four million inhabitants and a surface area
of approximately 50.000 km2, Costa Rica is one of
the smallest countries in Central America. Costa
Rica (“rich coast”) is known for its
varied fauna and flora. Furthermore, the country
offers beautiful landscapes which are ideal for your
dream vacation: beaches, volcanoes and the rain forest
to name just a few. Costa Rica is the politically most stable country
in Central America, disbanded their army more than 60 years ago and has
a relatively high level of education. It is the perfect place to learn
Spanish as the Spanish spoken is easy to understand and nearly free of
any accent. The Costa Ricans are very friendly, energetic people and are
nearly always smiling.

SAN JOSÉ
San José is the capital of Costa Rica. It is located on the plateau Valle Central, about 1.170 m above sea level. The city is relatively small for a Latin American capital; it only has 300.000 inhabitants in the city itself and a little bit more than one million in the conurbation of San José.
The capital is the political and economic center of the country. The Inter-American
court for human rights is also located here.

SPANISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL
Our partner school is located in a beautiful and
safe area of San José. It is about ten minutes away from the city
center, Guadalupe. Near the school there are not only trendy cafés
and a lot of small shops, but also the country’s
biggest and most modern shopping mall, offering a
huge variety of restaurants, cinemas, banks and
all different kinds of shops.
The language school is equipped with modern facilities,
a library and wireless internet access as well as a green recreation area
where the students can rest after a stimulating day of classes.

SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSES
We want your stay in Costa Rica to be the experience
of a lifetime and, of course, we want you to go home
with your Spanish at the level you were aiming for
when you arrived in San José.
Therefore, you will the choice of four different
types of programs and it is completely up to you
how long you stay for. Each program is divided into
group or individual classes. The groups consist of
three to four students per class on average. If you decide to take group
classes, you will sit a little placement test upon your arrival at the
language school so that you will be assigned to the best class for your
level of Spanish. All programs start on Mondays and end on Fridays. One
class lasts 60 minutes.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Two out of the four offered programs include special tours to give you the chance to get to know the beautiful country a bit better. It is definitely worth participating in the San José City Tour and getting to know the country’s capital a little bit more. As you probably know, Costa Rica produces one of the best types of coffees in the world and you are warmly invited to join the Costa Rican Coffee Tour. Or would you prefer to discover something of Costa Rica’s natural beauty? Let us take you on a trip to the famous Volcán Irazú, the largest active volcano in Costa Rica.
The language school also organizes typical Costa
Rican cooking sessions, Latin American dance classes (salsa, samba, merengue,
etc.), visits of the local market and to the towns of Heredia or Cartago
on a regular basis.

ACCOMMODATION
All students stay with well chosen host families.
Living with a typical Costa Rican host family gives you the best chance
to discover the Costa Rican way of life as you will immediately become
a member of the family. Your family will live either within walking distance
of the language school or a few minutes away by bus. You will have your
own room (single room) and laundry services as well as two meals per day
(breakfast and lunch or dinner) are included in the price. Please pay
attention to the fact that the prices mentioned below include staying
with the host family from the Sunday before your program starts to the
last day of your course. Prices for additional days are available on request
any time.

OTHER SERVICES
Apart from the above mentioned services, the prices also include an orientation session to welcome you to the country of Costa Rica before the beginning of your program, teaching material, tourist information and a certificate of attendance from our partner school. Airport pick-up is also included in the price. All you have to do is send us your detailed flight information (arrival date, arrival time and flight number).
