BRAZIL
Learn Portuguese in the Paradise of Carnival!

Learn Portuguese in the country of samba!

Once you have a look at the map you will realize how big Brazil actually is. It is the fifth biggest country in the world and the largest one in South America. The country has more than 186 million inhabitants and is different from all other countries in South America because Portuguese is the official language. The capital of Brazil is not Sao Paulo as many people may think, but the relatively unknown city of Brasilia in the center of the country. The most well-known cities in Brazil are Rio de Janeiro with the famous Cocacabana and world famous carnival, the beautiful colonial city Salvador da Bahia and the metropolis Sao Paulo, known especially for its sheer size and overpopulation (almost 20 million people live within the city).

Due to the slave trade in colonial times which transported a lot of Africans over to South America, the country is – especially on the east coast – deeply influenced by African culture and Caribbean rhythms.

Brazil is very multifaceted and offers a huge variety of different landscapes from the world’s longest river system, the Amazonian Basin, surrounded by the world’s biggest rainforest area, to the beautiful coasts and gorgeous sandy beaches which can be found from the north to the south of the country. The further north you go, the more the country will seem like paradise! The Brazilians are very hearty and easygoing people and you will immediately be taken by their happy and relaxed way of life!
